This term, the children took part in an immersive Victorian school day experience. They came to school in Victorian dress and were greeted by their Victorian Mistress! During the day, the children followed Victorian school rules such as; having their hands checked for cleanliness on arrival, lining up in boys and girls, writing on black boards with slate pencils, chanting their times tables, sewing and generally being seen and not heard! At playtime, the children played with hoops and sticks, did drill exercises, played pick up sticks and tiddlywinks.
It was a fantastic experience enjoyed by the children and the teachers and a great opportunity to discuss the changes in education and what a safe, happy environment school is for children now.
